Why I Started Works For Me
There is something powerful about finally giving yourself permission to begin.
For a long time, I have had ideas, stories, lessons, favorite finds, helpful tips, and life experience sitting in the back of my mind, waiting for the right time to turn them into something meaningful. Life has been busy. Life has been overwhelming. Life has also been full of growth, change, lessons, and plenty of moments where I had to figure things out as I went.
That is really how Works For Me was born.
This website is my space to share the things that have helped me — in my home, in motherhood, in work, in business, in travel, in family life, and in the everyday chaos that comes with trying to build a life that feels stable, peaceful, and purposeful.
I have always been someone who learns by experience. Some people have clear guidance, a straight path, and a support system that helps them know exactly what to do next. That was not always my story.
After high school, I had big plans. I wanted to build a future for myself. I wanted to serve in the Air Force, earn my way through college, and step into adulthood with a path that made sense. In 2003, that plan changed quickly when my Air Force career was cut short by an injury during basic training.
At the time, that felt like one of those life moments where everything I thought I was working toward suddenly disappeared. I did not want to take on student loans without a solid plan. I wanted stability. I wanted direction. I wanted a chance to become something on my own.
Instead, I had to regroup.
And honestly, that became a pattern in my life — not giving up, but constantly learning how to regroup.
Growing up, my family life was not always stable or encouraging. The adults around me were often trying to keep their own lives together while raising my brother and me. I do not say that to blame anyone. I say it because it shaped me. It made me independent before I knew how to be. It made me resourceful. It taught me how to pay attention, how to adapt, and how to keep moving even when I did not have a clear roadmap.
Over the years, I have worked in many different roles and learned something from every single one of them. I have worked with people, supported businesses, managed responsibilities, solved problems, helped families, handled pressure, and learned how to show up even when life behind the scenes was not simple.
Through all of that, one thing has stayed the same: I love sharing what works.
Whether it is a product that makes the house run smoother, a travel tip that saves stress, a routine that helps my family function better, a service that makes life easier, or a mindset shift that helps me get through an overwhelming season — I have always wanted to pass it along.
That is what Works For Me is about.
This site is not about pretending life is perfect. It is not about having every answer. It is not about making everything look easy.
It is about creating a place where real life can meet real solutions.
My goal is for this blog to feel a little like a journal, but without leaving you sitting in the sadness or stress. I want to share experiences in a way that feels useful, encouraging, and honest. I want someone who is overwhelmed, stuck, rebuilding, or simply trying to make life work better to land here and think, “Okay, maybe I am not the only one.”
Because you are not.
So many of us are carrying more than people realize. We are managing homes, families, finances, careers, relationships, responsibilities, emotions, and dreams that still matter even when life gets complicated. Sometimes we are trying to heal from the past while building something better for the future. Sometimes we are just trying to get through the week with clean laundry, dinner handled, kids taken care of, and a little bit of peace left for ourselves.
I understand that.
Right now, I am also in a season of figuring out my next move professionally while building something of my own. My hope is that Works For Me can grow into a helpful resource for others and, at the same time, create another stream of income that helps support and balance life for my family.
That matters to me.
I want to build something honest. Something useful. Something that reflects who I am: a working woman, a mom, a problem-solver, a learner, a service-minded person, and someone who still believes that good things can be built from complicated beginnings.
Here, you will find blog posts about life, family, favorite products, travel, home routines, personal growth, work, motherhood, and the little things that make everyday life easier. Some posts may be practical. Some may be personal. Some may simply be a reminder that life does not have to be perfect to still be beautiful.
My hope is that every piece of this site gives you something you can take with you — a helpful idea, a new product to try, a little encouragement, or even just the comfort of knowing someone else has had to figure things out too.
Welcome to Works For Me.
I am so glad you are here.
And I hope something you find here works for you, too.
